Individual and Group Opportunities

Volunteer Opportunities

OEI values the contribution of volunteers in its mission to serve and empower differently-abled children and youth. With its holistic approach to services, there are numerous opportunities for individuals, as well as national and international volunteer groups, to get involved. Volunteers can actively participate in various activities, promote awareness, and provide support for the needs of the differently-abled. Whether it’s assisting in educational programs, organizing events, offering skills-based training, or providing emotional support, volunteers play a vital role in creating a positive impact and fostering inclusion. OEI welcomes volunteers with diverse backgrounds and skill sets, offering a fulfilling and meaningful experience in making a difference in the lives of those in need.

Ways to Volunteer

  1. Physical Rehabilitation: Professional doctors, occupational therapists, and physical therapists can provide training for the Rehabilitation team and offer assessment and treatment for people with disabilities.
  2. Technicians: Assist in OEI’s Orthotic workshop and participate in wheelchair distributions through the ‘Wheels for the World’ program in collaboration with Joni and Friends.
  3. Academic Support: Volunteer tutors can offer their expertise to school and college students, teaching subjects like English and Computers at the center and in villages.
  4. Counselling/Advocacy: Counsellors and leaders can provide counseling services and conduct training on human rights and leadership for women with disabilities. Volunteers can also promote and sell handicrafts made by women with disabilities in their own cities or countries.
  5. Retail Management: Individuals or teams with a retail background can help set up a national and international supply chain management system and develop marketing strategies for handicrafts.
  6. Writing: Volunteers with writing skills can interview OEI beneficiaries in India and record their inspiring stories of lives changed, which can be used for publications and fundraising purposes to support OEI’s ministry.

Group Opportunities

Group opportunities at Operation Equip India (OEI) provide a platform for collaboration and collective impact. OEI, as the primary disability service provider in India’s Dharwad district, offers various group initiatives to transform communities and instill hope among the marginalized. By partnering with like-minded organizations, OEI aims to empower individuals with disabilities in rural villages, enabling them to reach their full potential and become leaders and role models in their communities. Through these group opportunities, OEI strives to create a network of ambassadors who champion the cause of disability rights and inclusion, fostering positive change at both local and national levels.
